/ GENERAL MANUFACTURING

Coolants, degreasers, adhesives — sheeted at the point of use.

The chemicals that keep a plant running are scattered across lines, cribs, and maintenance carts. SDS HQ puts the sheet where the drum is: scanned from the container, searched from the floor, filed once for every shift.

What you’re managing

  • Process chemicals everywhere — coolants, cutting fluids, degreasers, paints, adhesives, lubricants.
  • Three shifts, one binder — access has to work at 3 a.m. without the EHS manager.
  • Transfer containers — the spray bottle at the workstation needs identification too.
The rule

OSHA HazCom, 29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(8) SDSs must be readily accessible during each work shift to employees in their work areas — not in an office that locks at five.
