Unlimited team viewers — everyone who needs a sheet, free

Right-to-know means the people who work with a chemical can see its safety data sheet — all of them, not a licensed few. So viewing is free and unlimited on every SDS HQ plan. You pay for the people who author sheets, never for the people who read them.

What a team viewer is

A viewer is anyone who needs to reach a safety data sheet but does not create or edit them: a worker on the line, a shift supervisor, a maintenance contractor, a new hire in training, a firefighter responding to a call. They search the library, open a sheet, scan a QR code on a drum, or reprint a container label.

SDS HQ separates these viewers from authors. Authors — the small number of people who write and publish sheets — occupy the seats your plan counts. Viewers do not count against anything; there can be as many as your workplace has people.

Why it matters for compliance

OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard is a right-to-know rule: its whole point is that employees, and the responders who may treat them, can get to the hazard information for the chemicals they are exposed to. A system that meters that access by seat works against the regulation — the moment cost caps how many people can view a sheet, someone who needs one cannot get it.

Free, unlimited viewing removes that failure mode entirely. Every worker on every shift, every contractor, and every responder can reach the current sheet, which is exactly what "readily accessible to employees" is supposed to guarantee.

How SDS HQ does it

Authors and viewers are distinct roles — invite as many free viewers as you need; only authors use a seat.

The free-viewer model runs through everything the platform does:

  • Your organization has authors and viewers as distinct roles; only authors consume the author seats your plan includes.
  • Anyone can be given viewer access to the sites they work at, with no per-person charge — ever.
  • The distribution portal and scan-to-SDS QR codes let people outside your account read sheets with no login at all, which is the ultimate free viewer.
  • Because viewing costs nothing, you can hand out access as widely as safety requires instead of rationing it to fit a plan.

The result is a pricing model that lines up with the law: you invest in the people who produce compliant sheets, and everyone who simply needs to read one does so for free.
